The Parisian cabaret theatre known as Le Lido opened at 78 Avenue des Champs-Elysées in 1946 (and moved to its current location at No 116 in 1977). Its performances always include the famous Bluebell Girls, who can be seen rehearsing the show, Pour Vous, at the centre of Ronald Searle’s image. Stars who have appeared at Le Lido include Maurice Chevalier, Laurel & Hardy, Noël Coward, Marlene Dietrich, Josephine Baker, Edith Piaf, Shirley MacLaine and Elton John.
