"The dustmen stopped working. All the gravediggers stopped working. I refused to leave the premises. It was very unpleasant out. Chaos. Certainly Unfit for Cats.
In a way, you had to admire old Jim. In the middle of all this, like Lord Nelson before him, Jim said, 'I see no chaos'. Admittedly, when he said it he was on his way back from a Summit Conference in sunny Guadeloupe. He then lost a vote of 'no confidence' in the House of Commons by one vote, the one vote being a mad Scots Nat, thus ushering in One Hundred Years of Mrs Thatcher."
