Extracts from a letter from Diana Armfield, Bernard Dunstan's wife, 26 September 2014
'I remember Christopher Hull calling round with a proposal to contribute to his exhibition of perhaps a dozen painters, to work on ceramics, not being a familiar discipline.
He invited us to visit an emporium, not very far from here, to choose. Bernard chose the pot; I chose a 12" tile on which to paint cherry blossom. I have just looked through my photo albums to find my tile in '80-'83, much later than I thought!
PS Bernard agrees that the vignettes were adapted from previous paintings; I did a lot of short sittings of that kind in those days!'
