Margaret Loxton (Born 1938)

Margaret Loxton was born in London in 1938. She first came to painting in 1981, after having children. A short three years later she was working as an artist full-time, and won the Painting Prize at the City of London Festival in 1984.

In 1986 she was invited to exhibit her work in France, and had a show at the Musée Fabre in Montpelier. It was received well by the French press and she subsequently undertook tours of France and Tuscany, with its landscape and residents informing much of her artworks subject matter. The resulting works formed an exhibition at the Rona Gallery, Oxford, in 1989.

Since 1993 Margaret has worked closely with Charlton Fine Arts in Dover, who release limited edition fine art prints of her work. She was the first artist to be sponsored by the Bridgeman Art Library. Her artwork has also been released as a series of charity Christmas cards in the UK.
