MISS KATE MARY WHITLEY, RI (circa 1851-1920)
The daughter of a Leicester vicar, Kate Whitley was born in London and educated in Manchester. She produced watercolour still life compositions, including flowers and minerals, which she exhibited from 1884 in London, the provinces and internationally. In 1889, she was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colours. She lived in Leicester, and died at Blaby, on the outskirts of that city on 24 August 1920.
