Indirectly, this is a souvenir of velazquez's painting, los borrachos (the topers), painted in 1626-28. though brabazon saw and copied the original, which is in the prado, in madrid, his drawing here, of the three heads to the right of bacchus, was made from a very good pastel copy of velazquez's painting in the museo di capodimonte, in naples.
