Sir William Reid Dick RA was a Scottish Sculptor renowned for his monumental and portrait sculpture. He was knighted in 1935 by King George V and was Sculptor in Ordinary from 1938 until his death in 1961. He lived with his wife, Catherine and their three children in Maida Vale. This painting shows Ann, his youngest daughter, playing the piano in their home at 16 Maida Vale. Her father’s statue, Sling Boy, sits on the piano and a portrait of Lady Reid-Dick hangs behind.
