Annigoni
The Italian artists, Pietro Annigoni and Enzo Plazzotta, both found international success by establishing themselves in England after the Second World War. Annigoni's 'London Period' lasted until 1971, the year in which he sat for Plazzotta. The uncannily realistic portrait bust that resulted is a tribute to the strength of their shared devotion to traditional aesthetic values during a period that they would have considered experimental and iconoclastic.
