"I created this complex drawing using a combination of sketches and ideas and images from my imagination. The sketches are details drawn from images I made in Venice these have then been adapted imaginatively to create an architectural time piece which is based on and around the ideas of discovery and enlightenment.
The Venetian component of the work is paying homage and reference to Venice’s Past has a great trading city state and pioneer in travel exploration from Marco Polo and the Silk rout to foundations of modern travel and tourism. Off set against this at the very centre of the drawing’s composition is an image of the vertically oriented logarithmic map of the Universe and is there to represent not only the centre of time but of some of the latest developments in Science and discovery now ‘A New Enlightenment’ of which the title refers and also pays homage to."
