Piazza Armerina is a town and region in southern Sicily. The nearby Villa Romana del Casale, now a world heritage site, has over 3,500 square metres of well preserved, elaborate and highly decorative mosaic floors; Val and Rog visited in there in Spring.

‘The story of this painting is simply, that Mimosa is the first harbinger of Spring. Near the mosaic of the yellow fish was a flowering mimosa tree and they both just fused in a most delightful way.’
