In his day Hercules Brabazon Brabazon (1821-1906) was a well-known and much collected gentleman artist working in the tradition of Turner. However, by the 1920s tastes had changed and his works fell from favour. It was not until the latter part of the twentieth century that his work began to enjoy a revival of interest and research. This fully illustrated 176-page catalogue accompanied a significant exhibition of Brabazon’s work at the Chris Beetles Gallery in 1997.
