We are celebrating the life of Louis Wain (1860-1939) with a new exhibition of 60 original artworks, many seen for the first time.
As the main dealer in his work over the last 40 years we have additionally been able to borrow back major pieces from significant private collections. These will not be shown on the website but will be on display at the gallery during the official run of the exhibition.
This comprehensive show of all phases of Louis Wain's art, from naturalistic, to anthropomorphic, to fractal and psychotic, resonates with the visual impact of the remarkable film biopic, 'The Electrical Life of Louis Wain', written and directed by Will Sharpe and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy and Toby Jones. The film premiered in London on 1st January and is now on general release. The production company Studio Canal has used many of our images throughout the film and particularly in the closing credits sequence.
