Leslie S. Haywood (1902-1977)


Leslie Spencer Haywood was born in Brighouse, Yorkshire. A watercolour painter and illustrator, his work was exhibited at the Fine Art Academy in Manchester and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. In both 1950 and 1953 he exhibited work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. His illustrations were featured in the 1953 book 'How to Choose and Enjoy Wine' by Augustus Muir as well as in several British History textbooks. He was a member of The Reading Guild of Artists, where he lived in later life, and died in Berkshire.
