James Ferguson (born 1953)
James Ferguson has been the foremost caricaturist of the Financial Times for many years.
Having largely taught himself to draw, James Ferguson contributed caricatures to the LSE Magazine and the LSE Annual Review in the years 1992 and 1995. During the same period, he was also taken up by Lucia van der Post, who wrote for the Financial Times and, in 1994, developed its supplement, ‘How to Spend It’ into a glossy magazine. Ferguson’s cartoons and caricatures have become a staple of this magazine and more generally of the FT. In 2005, he held a solo exhibition of characteristic work at the Rivington Gallery.
