EDWARD HARRISON COMPTON (1881-1960)

E H Compton was born in Feldafing, Bavaria on 11 October 1881, the son of the painter E T Compton. He was educated at Schnepfenthal, in Thuringia, and then studied art under his father and in London, at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. He then lived in Feldafing, and exhibited oils and watercolours of landscape and architecture both in Germany and England, sharing two shows with his father at the Fine Art Society (1907, 190g). He illustrated a number of the A & C Black Colour Plate Books beginning with W A Baillie-Grohmann's
Tyrol (1908).
