The present work was executed after the publication of Robert Bridges' (poet laureate 1913-1930) 'The Testament of Beauty' in 1929. Robert Bridges and George Bernard Shaw were both members of the BBC Advisory Committee on Spoken English, but Shaw was also a successful broadcaster.
