The house has been identified from images in Walter Tyndale's personal scrapbooks.
'Saracens', near Woking in Surrey and originally known as 'Saracen's Lair', was designed in 1901 by architect William Frederick Unsworth. Created for solicitor William Harrison in the arts and crafts style, Unsworth incorporated the medieval features that so inspired him, including the remarkable half-timbered tower reminiscent of the architecture in the Nuremberg region of Germany. A friend of Walter Tyndale, Unsworth also designed Tyndale's own house, 'Broad Dene' in Haslemere, Surrey.
Diary 1904
'During May 1904 I stayed at "Saracens", the house built by Unsworth for Mr Harrison brother of Frederick Harrison.'
