A keen member of the Alpine Club, Hunt made sketches of the Val de Brenta on a climbing and painting visit to the Dolomites in 1921 (sketchbook 6). The Brenta Dolomites are located in the province of Trentino, north of Lake Garda in Italy. The wild northern part of the range is the last known habitat of alpine bears, whereas the central group of the range are a ‘climber’s paradise’ and the famous peaks of Cima Tosa and Cima Brenta are accessible from Madonna di Campiglio, where Hunt stayed and sketched from the Hotel des Alpes.
