In Notes in Japan, the Platycodon Grandiflorum is also referred to by Alfred Parsons as a purple-blue campanula. He comes across it several times while in Japan, notably growing on the slopes near Yoshida.

The work by Totosha Harris includes it as one of ‘The Seven Beautiful Flowers of Late Summer’, as number six – ‘Kiku’.
