When I arrived in Mottisfont for the first time, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the building and the stone and brickwork, and the wonderful organic ruins in front of the house, I was then seduced by the ancient trees and as we were shown around the gardens, everywhere I looked was beauty, even on a cold February day, but snow drops were coming out and a glow of sunshine, and I felt very inspired ,but thought I should go with my first incredible attraction to the stones and bricks and magnificent house itself, and begun this small detailed painting. About three weeks later I went there again and was so honoured to see my paintings as part of an exhibition there, and spring was beginning to burst out , and I joyfully continued with my small portrait of Mottisfont house, finishing it in a third session a few days later.
