Walt Disney was the first artistic influence on Anthony Green when he was a young boy. Anthony loved the early comic Mickey Mouse Weekly, which was the first British comic in full colour. He took to copying the characters freehand, reassembling them in different configurations, initially in wax crayon and later in poster paint. These compositions gradually grew larger and larger, until his bedroom walls were completely covered in drawings of Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck. Though he was encouraged to move on to move serious subjects by his Highgate art master, Kyffin Williams, the influence of Walt Disney stayed with Anthony Green through his career, and Disney imagery remained a feature of his work.
