In 1971, Labour politician Lord Longford assembled a private commission to study the effects of pornography on society. As part of his anti-pornography campaign, Lord Longford set out on a tour of sex industry establishments in order to compile a self-funded report. Lord Longford’s campaign was much-lampooned and he became a subject of derision in the English media,
who dubbed him with the moniker ‘Lord Porn’.
