Alexander Stewart Gray (circa 1863-1937) was a Scottish advocate and, from the early 1900s, a campaigner against unemployment. A member of the circle of Augustus John, he took over 8 Ormonde Terrace, overlooking Primrose Hill, shortly before the First World War, and shared the house with David Bomberg and William Roberts, among others. Later he too became an artist and, on moving to the island of Wallasea in Essex, painted frescoes on the walls and ceilings of his cottage.
