Emma Christmas is a contemporary ceramicist based in the New Forest, Hampshire.
Emma studied at the Central School of Art in London, followed by a BA in Ceramics at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. She initially pursued a career in product and fashion design, before returning to making ceramics in 2020. Emma closely observes the patterns of the natural world in her surrounding environment, with a current focus on birds of the Solent, the Keyhaven marshes and her country garden. Her work explores themes of ecology, migration and sustainability.
Emma works in thrown and hand-built, once-fired stoneware, which is decorated in engobe and underglaze.
Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025 and successive summer shows at the St Barbe Art Gallery in Lymington (2022-2025). Her work is held in private collections across the UK, Europe and USA.
