Written by Kate Christie (1917-circa 2009), the novel, Goodbye Jimmy Goodbye (1961), concerns the love of teenager, Clara Winstanley, for doomed alcoholic, Jimmy Lowden, who has returned to live in a crumbling house in the Cumberland valley. The disturbing nature of their relationship is suggested by the surreal motif of Eric Fraser’s jacket design.
