'Finished this painting today of the canal at the back of Vincent Terrace in Islington. I’ve painted lots of paintings here; I always wanted to paint this lovely Horse Chestnut tree, it turns autumnal very early on. I was very sad that there weren’t many boats there, apparently they’ve drastically put up the mooring charges. It used to be full of life and character and now it’s very quiet, what a great shame. Everything has to come to an end I suppose…'
