'Finished this painting last night outside The British Museum, painted in five evenings. I’ve painted two other views here, I love this tree. The first one was around the time of the lockdowns, and they were both painted when it was further into autumn. It has been much darker painting this one because the mass of leaves still on the tree covers up the street lights. I could hardly see what I was doing which I quite liked, it’s an interesting surprise when you’ve finished! And it made me dream about my time at the Slade...think something must’ve happened in those telephone boxes...'
