'Merry Christmas! last few nights I’ve been painting in Saville Row, a lot quieter than my previous night time painting, but beautiful lights and a lovely sedate atmosphere in that street. Last year [I did one] of Fortnums, wish I had the energy to do Cartier ... They’re all so good this year!'
Melissa Scott-Miller, December 2024
At this time of year, we turn to a recently completed work by Melissa Scott-Miller. Her painting of the Christmas lights on Saville Row provides a moment of peace amongst the busy festivities and Christmas traffic of central London.
This piece has been preceded by Melissa’s paintings of the Christmas lights at Fortnum & Mason and Dior on New Bond Street. Each has its own special feeling, and reminds us of Melissa’s ability to capture a profound sense of place – Even in the darkness of night.
We look forward to the promise of a New Year, new paintings and new exhibitions to share with you all. Merry Christmas!
