'A lot of artists paint that view and i'd never really done it, but wanted to. where i stood it's really busy, so it was quite difficult to do. but it just looked fantastic, because when it was early evening sunlight you could see this reflection and the golden light. it was right at the beginning of the year. The first thing i noticed were the purple flowers that i wanted to paint, and then the rest of it came around those. The fact that when it's really still you can see the full reflection, it was a brilliant time.'
