'Pen and ink, of course, gives a good line suitable for line block' reproduction. Fig. 7 Beech, pen and ink.
Ink with pen and brush can give a more positive drawing; the ink for a strong line and watered ink applied with the brush can deal with the massed effect of the twigs and can be used also to develop the three dimensional aspects both of the tree trunk and of the winter tree as a whole.'
