'Finished this little painting in St James's Park in the wonderful Duck Island Cottage or the Bird Keepers Cottage, where a bird keeper and his family actually lived up to the 1960s, and now it is the office of London Parks & Gardens trust. There is a beautiful garden there, I painted it on the terrible rainy day on Thursday, finding I could take cover under the porch, and then finished it yesterday. The heron kept landing next to me to have a look and also some pelicans were eyeing me up!'
