'Finished this small painting of Markham Square, Chelsea, looking through the gate. Yesterday I started another small painting of Hollyhocks and bricks and other lovely flowers in Bishops park, Fulham. I painted for a couple of hours today as well in the shade. The heat is a bit too much but the sunshine is beautiful and my mother told me that I was born in a heat wave, so I quite like them!'
