The artist Amanda Hall continues to establish herself as one of the most interesting illustrators in the world and with her latest book How the Sea Came to Be. She confirms her talent with illustrations to be enjoyed at all ages. The publisher, Eerdmans Books, thinks of this as a children’s book, a special present for 6-10 year olds but I embrace it for its great original qualities; pleasures that enjoin us in Amanda’s sublime and teeming depths of green and blue imaginings.
