Peter Coker returned to the tranquil, but ever-changing theme, of garden ponds both in France and also the familiar one in his own garden in Mistley, Essex. He made many studies of the pond in a wide variety of media. This oil embraces the abstracted forms of the pond's reflections and summer shadows of the surrounding shrubs.
