'Another version of this ruin titled, The Temple of Jupiter Tonans, Rome, signed and dated 1835 and inscribed with title on the reverse, measuring 50.8 x 31.12 cm, was sold at Christie’s sale 21 March 1989.
Cromek was in Rome in 1834. He went to Venice and England in 1835, so the dated version of this work must have been done from sketches after he left Rome. '
