'A version of this watercolour titled 'The West Front of San Marco, Venice seen through the Gothic Arches' was sold at Sotheby's on 24 November 1977. It wa ssigned and dated 1841, and measured 42.5 x 31cm.
In 1841 Cromek visited Rome, Naples and Sorrento. He had not been in Venice since 1835 so he must have produced this work from sketches he had collected in Venice.'
