'I’ve finished my summer back garden painting, thanks for all the encouraging comments and likes for the unfinished version I posted a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn’t help myself and filled it all in!
I was captivated by all the greenery and the summer light, everything seemed to burst out in leaf. It reminds me of summers as a child in London, bringing up my own children in Islington and now seeing my Grandson playing football in the parks around here. I got him a World Cup football and put that in the painting along with some of the pets that I’ve known and loved. Myself, drawing as always, and wearing a Liberty shirt and jeans which was what my mother always wore. This painting is a sort of autobiographical summer story...'
