In January and February 1968, an exhibition of Mervyn Peake's work was held at Buckingham Palace Road Library. The aim of the show was 'to give the first comprehensive view of Peake's work as a novelist, poet, playwright and illustrator' and included copies of all books written and illustrated by Peake (Chelsea News, January 1968). Household Tales of the Brothers Grimm (1946) would have been exhibited, and the original illustrations may have been on display at the Fine Art Society in conjunction with the show. Already hospitalised, Mervyn Peake would die later that year in November 1968.
