Number three from an edition of ten.
Maquette for the life-size sculpture commissioned by Felix Dennis for his 'Garden of Heroes and Villains', Dorsington, Warwickshire, 2002.
James Butler produced his vital portrait of the painter, Vincent Van Gogh, for the Garden of Heroes and Villains, in Dorsington, Warwickshire, in 2002. The garden was established by the unconventional publisher, poet and philanthropist, Felix Dennis (1947-2014), and contains over 40 sculptures, including several by James Butler. The completed life-size work includes an easel and a chair, on which visitors can sit, allowing them to engage with the figure of Van Gogh, and even feel that they are being painted by him.
