In 1959 Hunt made many sketches of the demolition of the Watney Stag Brewery in Victoria. The drama and theatricality of the event and probably the marking of a change to London's heritage appealed to him. He exhibited several of the works in the Royal Academy from 1960 to 1962, of which this was the last. (SB 41)
