The Revd Richard Barham (1788-1845) was a novelist and humorous poet. Under his pseudonym, Thomas Ingoldsby he wrote Ingoldsby Legends published in three volumes from 1840-47.
Seeley and co, founded in 1744, was one of Britain's oldest and longest standing publishing firms. Amongst its many publications were reprintings of works published in the 17th and 18th centuries by the Dutch publishers, Elzevir.
