Thomas De Quincey (1785-1859) was a writer and critic. His most notable work, Confessions of an English Opium-Eater was published in 1821.
Seeley and co, founded in 1744, was one of Britain's oldest and longest standing publishing firms. Amongst its many publications were reprintings of works published in the 17th and 18th centuries by the Dutch publishers, Elzevir.
